em 11 de março de 1985, com a presença do senhor ministro da aeronáutica, tenente-brigadeiro do ar délio jardim de mattos, foi inaugurada a atual sede da ecemar, no lendário e centenário campo dos afonsos. a ecemar é a organização militar de ensino superior do comando da aeronáutica que tem por finalidade ministrar cursos de altos estudos militares a oficiais da força aérea brasileira, oficiais de nações amigas e civis. atualmente, funcionam, na ecemar, os seguintes cursos: a) curso de altos estudos militares - caem; e b) curso de comando e estado-maior - ccem. desde a sua criação, até o ano de 2019, inclusive, a escola formou, em seus diversos cursos, 16 civis e 9.081 oficiais superiores, sendo 373 oficiais de nações amigas.
