as industries become drawn to higher levels of global competition and welcome the opportunities to supply quality products to multi-national customers, it is more important than ever, that successful managers be able to embrace the challenges of the entire supply- side horizon. as a lean senior manager, i have been on the front lines, in the front office and on the shop floor. i have been an agent of change in almost every aspect of progressive production management. teaching classes on subjects like; team effectiveness, 5-s, tpm and constraint identification and elimination. teaching production supervisors when and how to counsel and coach, what “above the line” really means, how to get there and how to stay there. the most important part of my mission however, is sustainment. not sustaining the progress that has been made would be waste, and in today’s competitive markets, there should be no allowance for waste.
