Jim Feia's Music Lessons for Young and Old

an alternative to the classic piano lesson. jim feia’s passion for music and the black & white keys of pianos and organs goes back to his earliest memories and the magnetic attraction that any kind of keyboard instrument held for him. starting out playing by ear on a melodica and a small chord organ, jim eventually moved onto studying classical piano as a young teenager with marilyn kiffmeyer, repeatedly achieving top scores in the mmta’s state piano competitions in both music theory and performance. as a student at st. cloud state university, he studied piano for 5 years with dr. tom allen and capped off his academic career with a bachelor of arts degree and solo recital with works of chopin, beethoven, scarlatti and enrique granados. after college, he held the position of primary music cataloger for 10 years at the libraries of st. john’s university and the college of st. benedict. as a performer, jim returned to his roots and early childhood influences of artists such as ray charles
