st andrew’s medical institute (sami) is collaboratively clinician-led and hospital-aligned with a clear scientific focus on evidence-based treatment and optimised patient outcomes. our major research initiatives relate to building systems for improving clinical outcomes through high quality data monitoring systems (the sami–net web-enabled databases), optimising performance metrics and statistical analysis techniques, building more predictive risk models and most importantly engaging clinicians in active use of all these tools to improve the whole system of care.
