st james's hospital foundation, is the the fundraising arm of st james's hospital, dublin. st james's hospital is one of the largest hospitals in ireland, caring for over 300,000 patients each year. it is a public hospital and excellence in patient care is our primary focus. for over 300 years, this site has provided public social and health care. the hospital continues to expand and in 2016, we will be opening a new facility for ageing - the mercer's institute of successful ageing. but we need further investment across our facilities to transform patient care and invest in the future for our local and national community of patients and their families. the demand for our services is increasing. for example, in 2012, 4000 new patients were diagnosed and/or treated for cancer here at this hospital. whilst we have major capital programmes in place, st james's hospital needs to continue to replace out-dated facilities with more cost-effective new technologies and better accommodation for o
