st. walburg’s hospital is a designated district hospital in the village of nyangao ,lindi, tanzania. st. walburg’s is a 220 bed capacity hospital, established over 50 years ago by the missionary benedictine sisters of tutzing who continue to support the hospital. it is owned by the roman catholic diocese of lindi, under the administration of the bishop of lindi. management functions are administered through the medical officer in charge, hospital administrator and patron. presently, the hospital is staffed by 3 medical doctors (1 surgeon, 1 paediatrician, 1 vso family doctor), assistant medical officers (amo), qualified nurses/nurse assistants, clinical officers (co) and trained personnel in their respective areas. five current vso volunteers assist to strengthen the capacity of the hospital in order to deliver quality health and medical services. current hospital activities • health promotion and disease prevention - reproductive/ante-natal and child health care, including mobile clin
