the mission of the “i have a dream” foundation - new york (ihdf-ny) is to motivate and empower children living in low-income communities to reach their educational and career potential by providing a long-term program of academic support, mentoring, enrichment, and tuition assistance for higher education. the "i have a dream" - new york approach is unique. we sponsor cohorts of 50-75 students (called "dreamers") in under-resourced public schools or housing developments, and work with these dreamers from early elementary school all the way through high school. we also provide guaranteed tuition assistance to any dreamer who graduates high school. ihdf-ny provides a rigorous, year-round program of academic support, mentoring, college preparation, and dynamic experiences that engage dreamers with a wide variety of subjects, including: the arts, employable skills training, healthy living, and the importance of community service. programming is designed to enhance dreamers’ academic perform
