'historically black colleges and universities were created during a time when african american students were not allowed to attend school with our caucasian brothers and sisters. that is no longer our story. we now experience the privilege of being able to attend a university that not only provides us with an excellent education, but allows us to honor the legacy, struggle, and bold examples that our ancestors have left us. i am excited to expand the minds of our youth and to show them the options that are available to them. education is a beautiful thing, but an hbcu education is not just beautiful. it's excellence, it's family, it's tradition, it's culture, it's just….different.'
