the baldirama restaurant group’s first concept, the original texican café on manchaca road, began serving hungry south austinites in 1988. seven years later, they opened their second concept, café 1626, a family-oriented south austin eatery specializing in subs, burgers, pastas, pizzas, and salads. before too long, the “north austin renaissance” began and texican café responded by adding its second location near lakeline mall. a few years later, texican added a third location in brodie oaks, but did so with a twist! texican café took their love for tex-mex cuisine and combined it with austin’s love for sports, thus creating texican sports cantina – the sports haven for your tex-mex cravin'! in feburary 2011, the baldirama restaurant group added their fifth restaurant to the group, draft pick, a sports restaurant in central austin which caters to college students, young professionals and downtown dwellers, offering a comfortable, casual atmosphere with a vast beer selection, a full menu
