Balkan Botanic Garden of Kroussia

the balkan botanic garden of kroussia (bbgk) was officially opened on 19th of may 2001 and since then it is opened to the public. it is member of the botanic gardens conservation international (bgci) and national network of greek botanic gardens. bbgk is owned by elgo-dimitra [ex national agricultural research foundation (n.ag.re.f.)]. the research and services of bbgk is supported by the laboratory of protection and exploitation of native and floricultural plants located at thermi of thessaloniki. bbgk is located in prefecture of kilkis, central macedonia, greece, between the villages paroxthio and pontokerasia, about 30 kilm. after kilkis, on the kilkis-pondokerasia road, on the southern foothills of the kroussia mountains, 14 kilometres from lake kerkini. bbgk occupies an area of 30 ha. this includes an conservation and protection of natural oak forest (in situ), conservation of living collections (ex situ), an art exhibition area, open and close kiosks for resting, picnic and birdw
