Ballynahinch Woodland

starting late 2020, we at ballynahinch woodland, will complete the purchase of 35 acres of land already approved by the department of forestry for planting with native irish carbon reducing alder, beech, oak, hawthorn and more native species on the edges of lough bridget and ballynahinch lake. from tiny saplings we want to watch them grow to provide a variety of protected habitats for birds and insects.with the help of over 35,000 native irish trees, we plan to lock up tonnes of carbon in the process. 7-9 tons of carbon emissions are generated by the average irish household every year. in one year, an acre of forest can absorb twice the co2 produced by the average car's annual mileage. that's a lot of carbon lockup. for good.
