banana enterprise network (a registered charity!) is an innovative social enterprise/charity set up to particularly address a gap in provision of pre-self employment support. launched in january 2015, the service is free and it has been specifically tailored to the needs of people who would like to explore the idea of self-employment, but who are facing barriers to their success because they are “disadvantaged” in some way. for example, they may be unemployed (or facing redundancy), or homeless, single parents, or they may have a disability. they may also suffer from low self-esteem or lack of confidence, knowledge, skills and information, which creates barriers to their progress. those eligible for the free service will be given one to one, “pre- self-employment” support from a specialist business advisor. ben ltd was founded by experienced business advisor jayne allman, who spotted a gap in provision whilst working for one of the mainstream business support providers and through her
