Banjerdan

my name is dan mazer. using the stage name "banjerdan" i'm a banjo player/multi-instrumentalist based near los gatos, ca. my music is an americana mix, rooted in bluegrass and branching out to include folk, country, blues, oldies, and other styles. i started playing scruggs-style banjo in 1974 and earned a b.a. in music theory in 1984 from george washington university. the banjo has taken me all over the u.s. and overseas, as a solo artist, as a member of bands, and in theatrical productions and orchestras, in venues ranging from street corner busking to bar/coffeehouse gigs, to children's shows, private parties and corporate events, to music festivals, opryland, usa, and the kennedy center for the performing arts. i've been a member of j.b. beverley & the wayward drifters, the jackstraws, d.j. & the c.b. pickers, and rockcreek. along the way i've shared the stage and/or sat in with the new riders of the purple sage, the del mccoury band, the yonder mountain string band, vince herman
