Barbados Open Water Festival

the barbados open water festival, an annual open water swimming event, has flourished since its first year in 2013, enjoying an expansion that has surpassed the expectations of organizers. originally, the festival started as a one-day event but evolved into a five-day affair with three days of informal practice swims and two days of competition (1.5k, 3.3k, 5k and 10k). a “just for fun” 1.5k is a great option for those who don't want to be timed. the swimmers range in age from as young as six years old to 75+ years. every year its a wonderful mix of ages, abilities and nationalities. olympians, world champions, pan am medallists, junior world champions, masters champions, triple crown holders, channel swimmers, competitive junior swimmers, elite swimmers, club champions, triathletes, water polo players, recreational swimmers, novice swimmers, pool swimmers, lake swimmers and sea swimmers have all taken part. many of the swimmers take part in the practice swims and casual dinners in
