est. 1987. bar barlovento embraces the timelessness of the ibiza lifestyle, authentic spanish tapas and traditional dishes found exclusively on the island. founded by the ferrers, a family of a very rare and rich lineage – original inhabitants of the emerald isle of ibiza (‘eivissa’ in catalan), spain. these simple island folk have been there for centuries, in an era before ibiza became the party capital of the world and destination of choice for hollywood a-listers. they tilled the then barren isolated island and grew oranges, vegetables and olives at their sprawling estate in santa gertrudis di fruitera, often sharing delicious meals with sailors and travellers. many generations down, senor pepe ferrer and his wife cati, decided to take the next step and open the world to the rich ferrer legacy of hospitality. and so, in 1987, bar barlovento was born – a family-style restaurant and tapas bar by the waterfront. little did they know ibiza would go on to become a haunt for the rich a
