barn & field is small family owned business based in seattle, washington specializing in catering and personal chef services. in january 2016, we open barn & field, kitchen and bakery within swanson's nursery for breakfast, lunch and weekend brunch. chef/owner casey barnes brings 15 years of professional culinary experience hailing from local restaurants like purple café & wine bar and luc cafe where he worked with renowned seattle chef thierry rautureau. chef casey spent 2 years training at farmshop la under chef jeff cerciello and chef mark hopper, and 1 year with chef fred deangelo at ola turtle bay on the famed north shore of oahu, hawaii. returning to seattle in 2013 with wife and business partner melinda, they are excited to bring home what we have experienced and learned throughout our journey. our philosophy is respect for food, not only knowing what you are serving, where it came from, but how you treat it with a gentle finesse to yield a beautiful product.
