Barn Theatre

we are a 200-seat state-of-the-art theatre in cirencester. we opened to wide acclaim in march 2018 with a secret garden, followed by the simon stephens play one minute (shortlisted by the stage for director's debut award). we take enormous pride and inspiration in the success of our built by barn productions, for instance our musical reimagining of kipling’s just so was reviewed in the telegraph as, “a kipling treat at an exceedingly good new theatre” and our current production of michael morpurgo’s the butterfly lion saw a glowing review in the wilts and glos standard, “the butterfly lion at the barn theatre may be the best play you’ll ever see”. the author himself attended a performance with interview session afterwards, where children could ask him anything. he later said of the show that it was “...better than the book. don’t bother with the book, come to the show”. these are all our own productions. we are gaining respect as a producing house and have recently been awarded ‘fr
