Barra and Vatersay Agricultural and Horticultural Association

barra and vatersay agricultural and horticultural association was formed in april 2000. it is run on a voluntary basis. the overall objectives of the association are:- • to promote the awareness of local produce and test the potential for local markets and marketing initiatives in barra and vatersay. • to encourage and support residents to grow their own produce and to utilise local resources in their everyday lives. barra and vatersay agricultural and horticultural association has three main areas of focus: • island markets, (12 monthly farmer type markets on the island per year) • hebridean living (started january 2013 and funded by climate challenge fund) it is to encourage people to grow their own, eat local produce and use local resources. • pròiseict biadh – bringing the projects together with barra and vatersay island produce show and highlighting local produce. the association was also responsible for the feasibility project for bùth bharraigh which grew out of the success of t
