Barretstown

barretstown rebuilds the lives of children affected by childhood cancer and their families through a medically endorsed, activity based programme. the children, from 7 to 17, come from ireland and across europe to take part in activities such as canoeing, high ropes, drama and arts and crafts. through their achievements at camp they regain confidence and self-esteem. they learn new coping skills to help them deal with the challenges their illness presents. for family members, barretstown gives them the opportunity to spend much needed quality time together, interacting with each other in a positive and fun environment which re-energises and renews their ability to cope with the stresses of dealing with a potentially life-threatening situation in their family.
