basalt energy is a spanish energy resources development and consultancy company with a strong r&d; base. we currently participate in the search and development of geothermal energy and coalbed methane. our goal is to expand to other sources of energy, especially in the renewables sector, to meet a growing demand for energy. we provide consultancy in geoscience, drilling, stimulations, reservoir management, engineering and operations. we specialize in the exploration, appraisal and development of low- and medium-enthalpy geothermal resources, including the direct use of heat and electricity generation. on the mid-term, we aim to participate in developing a consortium to design and build an enhanced geothermal system in nw spain. in addition, we participate in the development of coalbed methane as an alternative to open-pit mining. this technique helps maintain coal-dependent local economies and employment, as coal mines close due to increased environmental restrictions. as in geothermal
