we farm to actively improve the lives of people1 we know, the place2 we live, and the food3 we eat in everything we do and invite you to share in our work to nourish our communities. we are native houstonians and this is our home. too many of our fellow houstonians live in neighborhoods that are food deserts without access to fresh food options, suffer from preventable chronic diet related health issues, and lack the resources they need to live healthy lives. citizens in a city of our size and economic prowess should not be subjected to such inequities. there is a dearth of agriculture in the houston area and, for us, there is a link between this lack of farming and the countless food issues that plague our communities. beginning in 2013, brothers tommy, dan, and mark garcia-prats decided to use their talents to bring agriculture to our communities and founded small places, a social impact venture dedicated to utilizing farming as a tool to improve community health and empower neigh
