the founder and principal architect of the firm is bashirul haq. he completed his bachelor of architecture from national college of arts, lahore, pakistan in 1964. he received ′john heimrich tuition, scholarship′ and teaching assistantship at university of new mexico, us in 1971 and completed his master of architecture from the university in 1975. fazlur rahman khan, partner of som requested haq to join there. but he returned to bangladesh and established bashirul haq & associates in 1977 and started practicing architecture. in 1989, he visited massachusetts institute of technology as an invited design critic.
