(columbus, oh) - the battery hockey academy, a unique hockey player development and training program created in part by columbus blue jackets right winger cam atkinson and columbus native and hockey director at capital amateur hockey association, joey nahay (along with two other local businessmen) is set to open its first facility later this august. with core values, passion, extreme experience and knowledge of the game, the founders of the battery hockey academy have a goal of making players better people on and off the ice. while training to be a better player is key, the training is a tool to hone and foster personal growth … to make every player exponentially better. “when we began developing this academy, we wanted to ensure it embodied the core values of the game, as well as the core skills that make a better player,” said atkinson. “it is important for young players to learn discipline and hard work, but they also need to have passion for the game. not just play to play, but
