Bavarian Speed Sailing Association

the bavarian speed sailing association was founded to bundle given resources of know-how, r&d expertise, production technology and design methods, which are found in bavaria and especially in and around munich to build and to run the world’s fastest sailing craft. hereby the intention of the association is to foster advances in speed sailing, as well as supporting students and trainees in naval engineering, naval architecture and sail making. focus of research and development: - aerodynamics: design of a wing sail. - control engineering: design of electronic system control devices. - lightweight construction: load bearing structure made of high-module carbon fiber. - ground effect: aero- and hydro dynamics in ground effect have to be considered. - hydrodynamics: design of low drag cavitating profiles for actively controlled hydrofoils.
