Bayshore Discovery Project

the bayshore discovery project is home to the schooner a.j. meerwald, nj's official state tall ship. we are a 501(c)3 nonprofit with a focus on sail training, conservation and education of the history, culture and environment of south jersey's rich bayshore communities. the meerwald is a 1928 delaware bay oyster schooner. her sparred length is 115' and widest beam is 23'. her 3500+ square feet of sail are canvas, the material originally used in her era, and the lines are all manila fiber. restored over a period of eight years from 1988 to 1996, she now sails as a classroom in the delaware estuary and regionally. visit our homepage to see the schedule of public sails and other special events.
