bbap (bboys & bgirls association of the philippines) an sec registered non-profit organization since 2021. bbap mission: to preserve, progress and promote bboy, bgirl culture and the dance, artform and sport of breakin’ in the philippines. bbap vision: a national pro-breakin’ league with a sustainable industry and global leader why breakin’? breakin’ is a competitive warlike dance, making the opponent look bad. a dance and artform that was birthed out of poverty, gangs and crime in new york city in the 70’s as part of the hip hop culture. breakin’ was a way that the young participants were able to get out of the ghetto, and still is true to this day. why the philippines? in the 90’s, filipino-blood bboys and bgirls contributed heavily to the artform and are considered gamechangers and legends to this day. many say that filipino’s have such a natural talent for breakin’, due to the love of music, art & dance, plus coming from financial hardships mixed with the fighting spirt. to
