our investment philosophy has been to look at businesses which need more than just a cash injection but also need help and expertise. in a relatively short time, we have built a diverse portfolio with everything from a brand new start up in security, early stage technology businesses, fast growth areas such as recycling and children’s tv production, to the long-established traditional business (in one case since 1893!). our involvement in these businesses comes as a result of some experience or expertise but always because we like and believe the management team. typically we will take a minority stake but have no set criteria for percentage stake or minimum/maximum investment. in some cases our interest is in the form of loans and in a couple more we have a nominal financial interest but are assisting the board with their growth plans.
