beautifully damaged was established in july of 2012 by artist jessica jimmeye szalai. jessica is a lifelong artist that majored in visual art. it all started in jessica's home by finding unique vintage furniture that was damaged and painting them in her unique style, making them beautiful again. thus, the name beautifully damaged! although jessica loved painting furniture, her true passion was her art that is heavily influenced by tim burton, frida kahlo, salvador dali, & mexican folk art. she used her knowledge of visual arts to enhance furniture in her own twisted style.
