because every mother matters (bemm) strives to reduce the occurrence of maternal and infant mortality by providing sterile birthing kits, childbirth and development centers, education and mother to mother sponsorships in ethiopia.​ we are personally involved and invested in the life of each mother that is sponsored. we partner with an amazing group of ethiopian women who are comprised of social workers, counselors and women of passion. we also have full time staff that help facilitate our programs. our goal is to provide sustainability not only for the mothers, but their families and the community as a whole. through sponsorship the mothers and their families will be provided with medical care, continuing education (if they choose), counseling, money management, job training and small business opportunities. most of our mommas are single parents due to death of spouse or abandonment. we work with the government of dessie to identify destitute women that demonstrate the desire to change
