from september 2016, students aged 13 – 19 years will be offered the chance to fast track to careers requiring technology skills through a new technical academy in bedford borough. proposed by bedford college, this will be an independently governed school providing a high quality learning experience in science, service and creative technologies, in addition to gcses. the technical academy will open in september 2016 taking pupils aged 13 (year 9) and at 16 (sixth form). our vision is to offer students and their parents a new, different education choice, providing a clear career path to industry with leading technology employers or on to higher study at top universities. placing high expectations on students, we will raise education standards in the local area through high quality teaching, industry-standard facilities and an inspiring culture of learning. bedford college conducted an extensive consultation locally to demonstrate demand – not only from parents, but from young people who
