Beirut Quarantine Film Club

beirut quarantine film club was born out of the covid-19 pandemic in march of 2020 while i was a teaching assistant at the university of southern california in los angeles. what started as a project to lift my students’ spirits during quarantine slowly grew to become an online, global film club featuring participants and guests from over 15 countries across the world. cinephiles have tuned in from multiple states in the us, lebanon, jordan, switzerland, south africa, england, poland, saudi arabia, ireland, and more! mirroring the global identity of the club, each cycle explores films from around the world programmed around a specific theme or filmmaker. participants join a weekly zoom discussion of the films that attempts to fruitfully and productively comment on cinema and its impact on and role in translating the changing seasons of our lives. sessions are moderated by myself with the help of experts of my choosing in the form of film critics, media scholars, activists, and more. ab
