Belen Jesuit Preparatory School

belen jesuit preparatory school was founded by the jesuits in 1854 in havana, cuba. in 1961, belen and all private schools were confiscated by the new political regime. the school was re-established in miami that same year and has grown tremendously over the last five decades. in 1962 the school acquired its own building and moved to a new site on the corner of s.w. 8th street and 7th avenue in miami. it remained there until 1981 when the school moved to its current location; a 33-acre site in western dade county. beginning in 1992 the school entered a period of expansion which began with the renovation of the library, multiple computer labs were built as well as an athletic center and the numbers of classrooms were increased. in october 2003 the school inaugurated the ignatian center for the arts, offering theatrical and musical performances, as well as, art exhibits throughout the year. belen is a college preparatory institution, with 100% of our graduates advancing to post-secon
