the main tasks of ircel-celine are: - maintaining an interregional calibration laboratory to save guard the comparability of air quality measurements done in the regional networks. - administering an interregional air quality database where data from the regional networks are collected, validated and processed into reports and studies (the basis for reporting air quality measurements to the european commission). - operating an interregional data processing centre (idpc) where air quality data collected in the regional networks are acquired in “real-time”, evaluated and used to predict and to inform the public (see http://www.irceline.be). - developing & operating air quality models for air quality forecasting, air quality assessment and to perform scenario-analyses. - informing the regional and federal public authorities and the general public on and during episodes of enhanced air pollution (smog episodes). - compiling and transmitting all the belgian air quality and emission data to
