the belgian paleontological association (bvp) (dutch: belgische vereniging voor paleontologie vzw. french: l’association belge de paléontologie) is a scientific organisation which was founded in the antwerp area in 1977 by both professional and amateur paleontologists. the main goal of the belgian paleontological association is to encourage and popularize paleontological research in belgium. the association has around 250 members throughout europe. mission the main mission of the belgian paleontological association is to popularize paleontology in belgium, and at the same time contribute to paleontological research. by proposing a very diverse program of lectures and excursions and projects the association wishes to encourage anyone who is fascinated by earth sciences to contribute to scientific research through "citizen science"​. on the other hand the association also tries to create a forum where professional and academic paleontologists can present their research to the general pub
