pastor mike grew up in danville, virginia, and received jesus as his lord in 1977 as a teenager. he worked in his family business while serving in many roles at his local church. he became youth leader at the age of 19, subsequently serving as board member, midweek bible study director, lay minister and outreach minister, and musician. mike graduated from averett university in 1981 with a bachelors of science degree in business administration and married his wife, sharon, that same year.
