“water is life” and its significance is conspicuous, as availability of drinking water is set to become the cynosure of global fraternities as a key requisite in the twenty-first century due to its scarcity and depletion of groundwater levels, across the globe. developed nations have suffered majorly due to encroachment of water bodies, deforestation, concrete urbanisation and industrialisation and hence availability of drinking water has become a major cause of worry. in india, classic examples are cities and towns such as kutch in gujarat, latur in maharashtra, chennai in tamil nadu, parts of north karnataka, and many other places which were green belts, but have now started witnessing water scarcity and drought-like experience in the last two decades. development has always been welcomed but has also had its share of ill effects. nature has provided water through forms of rains but we have wasted most of the rainwater as we have not made arrangements to preserve rainwater in form
