Bere:architects

bere:architects is one of the uk’s foremost passivhaus practices with a strong emphasis on both design quality and r+d, and winner of numerous design and sustainability awards. founded by justin bere, the practice produced some of the uk’s first ph buildings: london’s first ph home, uk’s first ph social housing, uk’s first ph csh level 6 home, uk’s first ph non-domestic retrofit, and most recently setting a new benchmark for performance with the uk’s first ph plus home, proven by two years of monitoring. bere:architects also won both of the bre ph housing competitions (2009, ebbw vale & 2012 watford). the practice has carried out and published a substantial amount of r+d work with academic partners, some of it funded by the technology strategy board (renamed innovate), some of it peer-reviewed academic papers, and much of it self-funded, and a substantial amount of this research work is freely available on the practice’s website. the practice launched and co-organised the uk’s first tw
