my passion to coach people about their student loan debt was sparked after hearing a podcast this past spring. the podcast explained how credit card companies make tons of money from people who don’t understand the rules when they borrow money. the point of the story was to demonstrate that coaching is a way to help people avoid getting trapped. the host shared the story of a woman who is a teacher and borrowed student loans to pay for her education. in the interview, she shared how this debt was negatively affecting her family life, attested by her five-year old son. ten years later, she owes more than she borrowed because she received bad advice from the loan providers. the endgame of some lenders is not to help people pay off their obligations, but rather keep them in a cycle of indebtedness. although her story ended with her loans being satisfied through help from the listeners of the podcast, i don’t believe that is the case for most people. my takeaway from this podcast dr
