Better Akron Recreation for Canines

akron dog park was created as a safe space where owners could bring their dogs to exercise and socialize. the park opened in september 2003. the land is provided by the city of akron, as was the seed money to construct the park. since then, the park is maintained and operated by a non-profit organization called b.a.r.c (better akron recreations for canines). the non-profit is run by volunteers, all of them dog owners and park regulars. the aim of b.a.r.c is to act as a resource for dog owners and provide not only a safe and welcoming place to socialize, but also an educational experience. currently b.a.r.c is undergoing a rebirth of sorts. new officers have recently been elected, and are working to build up our community presence once again. in the near future b.a.r.c plans to announce a new schedule of events including seminars, etc.
