Better Bicycles

bicycles are a wonderfully efficient creation. they are an energy efficient way to move people around our urban spaces. they are a time efficient way for people to move themselves; getting some exercise and relaxation while in transit. but bikes could be better! for over 100 years major advances in bicycle design have been being banned from mainstream cycle racing in order to maintain a level playing field. this has led to the refinement ‘safety bike’ design which dates from around 1890 while alternative designs have received little attention. often designs which give a significantly improved performance are seen as being slow by the general public because they look different to race bikes – when in fact they are banned from racing because they give an unfair advantage! the better bicycles project is a global community focused on creating better bicycles for everyday use.
