the better business bureau of updtate ny inc. (bbbf) is a 501 (c) 3 dispute resolution center and is a project of the better business bureau inc. funding for the dispute settlement center comes from the better business bureau, sponsorships, grants and various fee-for-service income or other revenue producing dispute resolution activities. a major focus of the bbbf is the"commercial resolutions" arbitration program which offers a time efficient low cost alternative court proceedings for most marketplace disputes. the bbbfalso created and still managers the stop shoplifting education program. a program which is designed to reduce the rate of recidivism for first offender shoplifters. the program currently operate in erie, genesee, chatauqua, and niagara counties and is expanding east. finally, the bbb foundation acts as the educational and public relations arm of the better business bureau inc. offering tips, media releases and interviews for timely consumer/business issues.
