beyond the conversation is a grassroots organization whose purpose is to engage, empower, and inspire seniors, new immigrants, refugees, and youth. being a volunteer-led initiative, we are driven to use the english language as a vehicle to foster a sense of belonging while growing their self-confidence and their connection to the community. projects we are working on: our clients meet in small groups in the greater vancouver to learn and practice their english skills. to close the gap of social isolation and mental health stigma, we plan to deliver 10 awareness presentations to schools and universities in 2018, as well as opening 100 new locations for small group meet-ups by 2020 through our partnership with business improvement associations (bia’s), faith community, neighborhood houses, local libraries, community centres and building managers for the high-rises. our goal is to offer all people a place where they can feel welcome, to make friends, learn from each other, appreciate each
