bgl is a relatively young practice formed in 2005 through the association of barker lourens architects, tina gallagher and associates and peter buttgens architects. the practice has brought together expertise in the fields of heritage, planning, architecture and the environment to create a holistic approach to design projects. the multidisciplinary approach, together with shared knowledge, creates a stimulating work environment. projects of a substantial nature that individual practices acquire are brought under the umbrella of bgl where detailed expertise can be used to deliver well honed interventions. the practice strives to be respectful towards the environment, both natural and man made whilst finding contemporary solutions that do not mimic existing precedent, but speak of specific time, place and culture. the practice believes that the design of the larger environment beyond the building itself is important but also that more focus should be placed on creating comfortable intern
