big canopy campout (bcc) was dreamed up by uk tree climbers in 2017, born out of a passion for trees, climbing, science and exploration. the big canopy campout organises a coordinated international event gathering hundreds of arborists, canopy researchers, explorers, photographers, activists, camping enthusiasts and families to camp out (and up!) in forests and raise funds for the protection of these environments. our aim is to build an open international community of tree climbers and forest enthusiasts by providing a platform to showcase the people, projects, stories and work being done to secure the future of our forest habitats worldwide. trained and experienced climbers sleep high in the trees, but you don’t need to be a climber to get involved. many participants will simply be setting up hammocks near the forest floor for a night of forest camping. our vision is a future where forests are protected and respected by society and spending time in and around trees has a recog
