the big day off is a team effort between businesses and employees to raise money and awareness for those impacted by spinal cord injury. when businesses sign up, staff can buy tickets to go into the draw to win a big day off from their workplace. simple, fun, and a unique way to support all australians living with spinal cord injury. the initiative was inspired by james mcquillan, a talented sportsman who became a quadriplegic after an aussie rules football injury in albury in 2014. the big day off is the brain child of a group of seven albury individuals, who knew the accident was bigger than the football club, and wanted to make a difference for all australians living with a spinal cord injury. participation is very straightforward — businesses register on the big day off website and promote to staff with the help of the bdo marketing team. staff in turn buy tickets from the site to win a paid day off. tickets are $5 and employees can buy as many tickets as they like for their chance
