big r, founded in 1968 in the towns of lamar and la junta, began as a small family owned and operated business. from the inception, big r of lamar and la junta were the dominant farm, ranch and home retail chain in the arkansas valley of colorado. big r of pueblo was opened in 1990 and was an immediate hit. in fact, it continues to be one of the top producing stores within our company. big r of pueblo's consistent success initiated our expansion into southern colorado. big r of trinidad was opened in 1998 and big r of falcon in 2000. soon following was big r of alamosa and big r of center in 2002. our first metro location, big r of elizabeth, opened in 2004. our first venture onto the western slope of colorado was big r of cortez in 2006. our first expansion into a state other than colorado was with our tenth store, big r of dumas, texas. and now with our 11th store in farmington, new mexico, big r can boast that it has a presence in 3 states. our newest store located in south colorado
