big river race management, st. louis' leader in race timing and race management and the midwest's premier race management and timing company, was founded in 2007 a year after its sister company big river running company entered the st. louis running market. after receiving request after request to help time and organize local road races, big river owner matt helbig decided it was time to bring a professional approach to event management. big river started out small, helping local charities and race organizations time and manage about 20 events in its first year. in 2009, race timing pioneer tom eckelman partnered with big river bringing over 30 years of race management experience to the table. the first step was to purchase a chip timing system and the two decided on chronotrack, the industry leader in timing endurance events. since then, big river race management has evolved to timing over 160 events and 115,000 participants in 2012, providing race management to over half of those eve
