bike works has been working for kids, bikes, and community since 1996. for more than two decades, we’ve worked to empower and mentor youth and to make bicycling accessible and affordable for everyone. our programs invest in young people and encourage bicycling as a clean and healthy transportation alternative. located in the heart of the columbia city neighborhood, we are committed to working in institutionally-neglected neighborhoods in south seattle that lack easily accessible community programs and safe public spaces. through time-intensive after-school mentoring programs and innovative bike riding opportunities, we reach youth who are not usually attracted to traditional enrichment activities, and help them realize their own self-worth within a community that supports, encourages and strengthens them. we also have programs for adults to empower each of us to know how to fix and maintain our own bike, and to get bikes into the hands of those who couldn't otherwise afford one. the bi
