the biomedical immersion academy, llc is a five day program for high school or undergraduate students facilitated by community physicians, fellows and residents in various specialties, that offers real life experience of what to expect in a career in medicine. the program emphasizes didactic, clinical and hands-on medical experiences. students will shadow medical professionals in the operating room or medical clinic. hands-on experiences include the practice of anatomic dissections and surgical procedures in the cadaver lab as well as virtual surgeries. students will benefit from lectures and discussions presented by physicians, residents or medical students, including a full group seminar on the basics of planning for and applying to medical schools* or entering the biomedical field. optional: a research component is offered for students who are interested in pursuing a clinical research project. medical professionals will mentor students for six to eight weeks, resulting in a formal
