drawing on a combined 35 years making and selling wine at bonny doon vineyard in california, domaine ostertag in alsace, piemonte, puglia, and beyond, co-founders and winemakers alex krause and john locke currently produce 3 wines under their birichino wines label- a highly aromatic malvasia bianca, an old vine grenache from an ungrafted vineyard planted in 1910, and a small quantity of a provencal- inspired pink from even more ancient ungrafted vines planted primarily in 1886. their aim is to produce wines that possess perfume, poise, and puckishness.
